Abstract

Dental pulp is a highly specialized tissue that preserves teeth. Before a pulpectomy, it is crucial to preserve the dental pulp’s capabilities using any remaining dental pulp to create a local restoration of the dentin-pulp complex. The goal of regenerative dentistry is to repair the pulp-dentin complex’s capabilities that have been impaired by pulp damage and/or inflammation. A suitable scaffold is used in scaffold-based approaches, a regeneration strategy that mimics a biological environment and is thought to be essential for dental pulp regeneration. This review summarizes the current knowledge of the potential beneficial effects derived from the interaction of scaffold materials and growth factors in the dentin-pulp complex regeneration, as well as potential future developments in
this exciting field.
